About Reassembly
Reassembly is a single-player space shooter and ship building game developed by Anisoptera Games and published by Indie Voyage in February 2015, after a successful Kickstarter campaign. You begin as a tiny craft in a procedurally generated universe filled with strange alien vessels, some insectoid, some angular, some almost plantlike. Every encounter is a test of the ship you built, and every defeat is a lesson about what you should build next. The result is a colourful sandbox where design and combat feed each other.
The heart of the game is a remarkably user-friendly spaceship designer. You attach blocks, thrusters, weapons and shields piece by piece, shaping a vessel that is precise, powerful, agile or simply beautiful. Physics gives real weight to your creations, so mass, balance and engine placement all change how your ship flies. When you are destroyed, and you will be, you rethink the layout, add armour where it was missing and try again with a sharper design that fixes the weaknesses of the old one.
As you collect resources you grow, and growth changes everything. A small scout becomes a cruiser with a lopsided mix of new weapons and buffed shields, and eventually a battleship that can produce its own fleet, whose members can spawn escorts of their own. Smart, reactive AI factions push back hard, and the universe looks stunning in gorgeous vector graphics packed with particle effects. A beautiful, haunting soundtrack by Peter Brown, known for Peaks, sets a calm mood between the fierce battles.
Reassembly runs on Windows, macOS and Linux and is very light: Windows 7, a 2 GHz dual-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, OpenGL 2.1 graphics and only 150 MB of storage. Text is available in nine languages, including English, German, French, Spanish and Polish. With a fresh universe each time, an endless supply of ship ideas and battles that reward smart engineering, it is a fantastic choice for anyone who loves tinkering with designs and seeing them come alive in space.
