About Bionic Dues

Bionic Dues is a tactical, turn-based roguelite with mech customisation, created by the independent American studio Arcen Games and released in October 2013. Its premise is darkly funny: robot rebellions are supposed to be crushed by the best of the best, but the best of the best have just been killed. Now it is up to you. Subdue the uprising in time, or your corporate overlords will nuke the whole city to solve the problem their own way.

You guide a squad of four Exos, powerful mech suits, through missions packed with enemy robots that are as buggy as they are angry. More than 40 unique bots populate the city, from the hilariously inept but dangerous DumBots, BlunderBots and BatBots to terrifyingly effective WyvernBots, DoomBots and MurderBots. Many of them suffer from bad GPS, terrible aim, insecurity, a lack of focus or a tendency to backstab, and learning to exploit those flaws is a big part of winning.

The campaign is built around choice. As you explore the city map you discover around 120 missions, but you only have time for 30 to 50 of them before the robot army launches its final assault. Each pick shapes how ready you are for that last battle. Missions come in 23 general types, from destroying key facilities to grabbing loot, and every one is procedurally generated like a floor in a classic roguelite, so no two campaigns look the same.

Your squad is fully customisable. Mix and match four Exos from six classes, Assault, Siege, Science, Sniper, Ninja and Brawler, each with its own build and weapons. Pick a pilot from a roster of six to add a powerful perk for the whole campaign, and equip procedurally generated loot that brings weapons, defensive upgrades and new abilities. Difficulty ranges from quite casual to incredibly hardcore, and the soundtrack by Pablo Vega sets the mood. There are 220 achievements to unlock, and it is rated 12.
