About Songs of Conquest
Songs of Conquest is a turn-based strategy game developed by Lavapotion, published by Coffee Stain Publishing and released on 20 May 2024. You lead powerful magicians called Wielders into unknown lands, wage battles against armies that dare to oppose you, hunt for artifacts and expand your territory across a richly detailed pixel-art world called Aerbor.
On the adventure map you explore forests, rivers, swamps and mountain passes, collect resources and valuable loot, and claim walled towns. Each town needs planning: research new advancements, build the structures that suit your playstyle and decide whether to enlist every archer you can or march the eternal legions of Aurelia to war. Your Wielders can trade troops and artifacts, so a well-supplied hero can push deeper into enemy land.
Battles take place on hexagonal fields where troop abilities and powerful magic combine. Mixing the right units unlocks more spells and greater damage, and siege battles test your strategy against fortified walls. Four factions are locked in conflict: the Arleon knights, the ancient Rana swamp tribes, the Loth necromancers raising the dead and the Barya mercenaries and inventors devoted to coin and gunpowder. Four choral campaigns tell each story through a song whose verses unlock as you complete missions, and handcrafted maps, randomised maps, Conquest maps and Challenge puzzles add replay value, while the map editor lets you script events and write dialogue.
The game runs on Windows 10 and supports 14 interface languages, including English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Polish. The minimum setup requires an Intel Core i5 dual-core or AMD Ryzen 5 processor, 8 GB of RAM, integrated graphics, DirectX 10 and 4 GB of free disk space. It is rated USK 12 and suits players who enjoy classic fantasy strategy, town building and thoughtful hex battles in the spirit of the great genre classics.
