About Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds Saga
Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds Saga is a real-time strategy game from LucasArts, originally released in 2001. This edition brings together the original Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds and its expansion pack, Clone Campaigns, in one package. You take command of the great armies of the saga and lead them across planets and star systems, gathering resources, building bases and raising forces to decide the course of the Galactic Civil War.
The base game lets you enter the fray as the Galactic Empire, the Rebel Alliance, the Wookiees, the Trade Federation, the Gungans or the Royal Naboo. Each side brings its own units and upgradeable technology, from Wookiee ingenuity to advanced Gungan biotechnology and Jedi stamina. Armies can grow to as many as two hundred units per side, including bounty hunters, Jedi, droids and heavy vehicles, and battles take place over land, sea and air, from asteroid fields to aquatic realms.
The Clone Campaigns expansion adds two more factions: the breakaway Confederacy of Independent Systems and the Galactic Republic. Its fourteen missions are built around characters, vehicles and locations from Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones. Alongside the story campaigns there are skirmishes against computer opponents and local multiplayer battles, so the game works for solo commanders and groups of friends alike, and it offers dozens of hours of play.
A Scenario Editor lets you create custom single-player or multiplayer campaigns with virtually any Star Wars units and settings. The GOG release runs on Windows 10, includes English, German, Spanish and French with audio and text, and ships with manuals for both the base game and Clone Campaigns plus reference cards. Multiplayer is available only through a LAN connection. For fans of classic base-building strategy and of the Star Wars universe, this collection remains a rewarding way to command a galaxy at war.
