About Tropico 5

Tropico 5 is the fifth entry in the tongue-in-cheek “dictator sim” series, developed by Haemimont Games and published by Kalypso Media in May 2014. As El Presidente you build up a small Caribbean island nation while keeping its citizens, factions and foreign powers just happy enough to stay in office.

For the first time the game spans whole eras, from colonial rule through the World Wars and the Cold War to modern times, each with its own buildings and challenges. Members of your Dynasty can be appointed as managers, ambassadors or generals, a trade fleet secures routes to other islands, and up to four players can build side by side in co-op or compete online.

Key Features

  • Four historical eras – From colony to modern state
  • El Presidente’s Dynasty – Family members with unlockable traits
  • Research and renovate – Over 100 buildings across eras
  • Trade fleet – Export and import routes by sea
  • Multiplayer – Co-op or rivalry for up to 4 players

PC Version and Compatibility

The key activates Tropico 5 on Steam for Windows. Minimum requirements: 2 GHz dual-core CPU, 4 GB RAM, GeForce 400, Radeon HD 4000 or Intel HD 4000 with DirectX 11 support and 4 GB of storage. Full audio in English, German, French, Italian and Spanish; Polish is available as text only.

Activation & What You Receive

You receive a digital Steam key for the standard game. This is a ROW (Rest of World) key: it works on Steam accounts in all countries except Thailand, including the whole EU and the UK. In the Steam client choose Games → Activate a Product on Steam, enter the code and the game is added to your library permanently.

Why Buy This Game?

Tropico 5 suits players who like their city builders with a sense of humour: the radio commentary, election speeches and absurd edicts make every crisis entertaining. Moving through the eras keeps the economy fresh over a long campaign, and the co-op mode makes it one of the few builders you can comfortably share with friends.

Related Games

Fans of island politics can step back to Tropico 3, where El Presidente first faced elections, rebels and the Cold War superpowers in a single-era campaign. For a larger, more serious metropolis, Cities: Skylines hands you zoning, traffic and public services across an entire modern city. If you enjoy steering a community through hardship, Surviving the Aftermath puts you in charge of a colony rebuilding after a global catastrophe. And Anno 1404 Gold Edition Ubisoft Connect Key EU replaces the Caribbean with medieval trade, as you link island settlements with merchant ships and keep demanding citizens supplied.
