About Warlords Battlecry 3
Warlords Battlecry 3 is a fantasy real-time strategy game developed by Infinite Interactive and published by Enlight Software, originally released in 2004. It is a true sequel to Warlords Battlecry I and II and is often described as the best installment of the first series to successfully combine RPG and RTS elements. The game continues the Battlecry tradition of persistent, RPG-like fantasy heroes who lead a retinue of loyal followers into massive battles in the Warlords world of Etheria, carrying their experience and items from one fight to the next.
The story starts when the Selentine Merchants venture too far from their trade routes, crossing the South Seas in search of rich lands that might lie beyond. They are unprepared for the terrors they awaken and the devastation they unleash on Etheria, and the war that follows changes the face of the world forever. You can join the many races of Etheria and fight through the ruins, jungles and deserts of the southern continent of Keshan, seeking new lands and treasure to build an empire, or you can repel the invaders and then turn the full might of their empire on the northern realms. The non-linear story offers great replay value.
You choose from sixteen different races and twenty-eight classes to create the hero who will lead your army. Familiar races return alongside newcomers such as the Plaguelords, Saurians and Swarm. More than one hundred and thirty spells across thirteen spheres of magic and many new magic items, some special and rare and some able to cast spells, give your hero a wide range of options. Between battles there is plenty to do: earning titles and awards, trading and buying items and retinue members, and upgrading a castle that reflects your importance and influence in the world.
Compared with earlier entries, the game removes hero and unit caps, adds new special abilities for high-level heroes and introduces an intuitive hero system, plus new buildings and dragons. Its automated features reduce micromanagement so you can focus on tactics and army composition. The GOG release is available in English and Russian and runs on Windows with very low hardware needs.
