About Death in the Water 2
Death in the Water 2 is an underwater horror survival game developed and published by Lighthouse Games Studio, released for Windows on 26 January 2023. Beware the waters, because they hide a mysterious and terrifying threat: Death, an ancient Kraken leviathan, haunts your every move. You fight to survive using powerful weapons and upgrades as you explore a beautiful yet treacherous underwater world, and every dive reveals a new nightmare.
The game blends the heart-pounding action of a wave-based shooter with spine-chilling horror and tension. You explore each dive cautiously, uncovering treasures and collectibles while getting used to the surroundings. As you investigate ruins, wrecks and reefs, the tension escalates. Marine life mirrors real behaviour, with sharks and other creatures staying passive unless provoked, until the Kraken’s sinister mind control sets off a feeding frenzy that focuses ruthlessly on you.
Four modes are included. Campaign unveils a storyline through challenging missions, Survival is a horde mode with endless waves of enemies, Free Roam lets you explore the open seascape without the threat of attack, and New Game Plus brings tougher challenges. A large open underwater map holds wrecks, reefs, caves, ruins and open waters that test your thalassophobia, along with hidden treasures and secrets that help you take on the Kraken.
An extensive list of lifelike, procedurally animated creatures, both real and fantasy based, react to the environment as they hunt you down using sight, sound or scent. Your arsenal includes Chum Grenades, high-powered sniper spearguns and shotguns that you unlock and upgrade, and leaderboards, achievements and cloud saves are supported. The game is made by two longtime collaborators, Neil and Edward, the team behind Shark Attack Deathmatch. It is rated USK 16.
