About Deponia

Deponia is a comedy point-and-click adventure developed and published by Daedalic Entertainment in August 2012. The studio, once called the Lucasarts from Germany by GameStar magazine, invites you into a fantastic adventure that revolves around the crazy love story of Rufus and Goal on a planet that has degenerated into a vast garbage dump.

The crotchety Rufus ekes out his sorry existence in literal mountains of trash as part of the lowest social class. He hopes for a chance to reach the world of the rich, who live in a floating city high above the clouds. Fate seems to smile on the snotty good-for-nothing when the attractive Goal from the upper sector plummets into one of the trash heaps.

Rufus decides to help her by taking her back to her husband, and when he notices that the husband is a dead ringer for himself, he hatches a diabolical scheme to reach the upper world. Things do not go quite as planned, because his feelings for Goal limit his usual unscrupulousness. You guide the poor boy from the junkyard through challenging puzzles, bizarre characters, wacky humour and hours of dialogue in a unique comic style with hand-drawn HD 2D graphics, in a universe in the tradition of Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett and Matt Groening, where winning over the girl from heaven might even save the planet.

It is a single player game that runs on Windows, macOS and Linux. The Windows version runs on Windows Vista or 7 and supports English, German, Italian and Spanish with full audio, plus Russian, French, Polish, Bulgarian, Greek, Turkish, Czech, Brazilian Portuguese, Arabic, Korean and Chinese text. The minimum setup needs a 2.5 GHz single-core or 2 GHz dual-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, an OpenGL 2.0 graphics card with 512 MB, DirectX 9.0c and 5 GB of storage. The game holds a USK 12 rating and is ideal for players who enjoy classic point-and-click adventures, absurd comedy and hand-drawn worlds.
