About Effie
Effie is a 3D action-adventure game developed and published by Inverge Studios, released on 28 January 2020. It combines classic elements of the genre, such as combat, platforming and puzzles, with the exploration of an expanded world. You live a unique fantasy adventure, free the cities from a powerful and dark evil and relive the look and feel of old-school video games.
The story follows Galand, a young man on a quest to recover his youth after a witch cursed him with premature old age. Along the way you defeat sinister creatures, overcome platforming challenges and solve increasingly complex puzzles. The cities of the Oblena region are held by a powerful black magic, and each one you free pushes Galand a step closer to undoing the curse that aged him.
To face evil, Galand carries a magic shield that lets him defend himself, fight enemies and surf across the vast red grassland that connects the regions. The shield gradually grows in power and skills, opening new ways to fight, move and explore. Gliding over the plains on it becomes a core part of travelling between towns, ruins and dungeons, and it adds speed and rhythm to the exploration.
The developers drew on fond memories of classic 3D action-adventure games and set out to bring those sensations back to life with modern graphics, controls and gameplay. It is a single-player game with full audio in English, Spanish and German, French text, achievements, cloud saves and full controller support. Effie is rated USK 6.
