About FlatOut

FlatOut is a destruction racing game that combines high-octane racing, smash-em-up demolition derby action and death-defying stunts. It was developed by Bugbear Entertainment, with ZOOM Platform Media and Jordan Freeman Group, and published by Strategy First, and this PC version was released on 2 February 2007. Drivers thrown across the track, shattered fences, mangled cars and exploding tyre walls are all part of the very first corner, and things only get wilder from there.

You use every trick, shortcut and jump as you battle seven rivals for the championship across 36 race tracks set in fully destructible environments. There are 16 different upgradeable cars, and each one takes realistic damage that affects both its appearance and how it handles. A sophisticated physics engine powers ragdoll animation and a very advanced collision model, so every hit, roll and pile-up feels heavy and unpredictable, and a careless line can turn a lead into a wreck.

The most famous part of the game is its stunt section. Six death-defying minigames, High Jump, Long Jump, Darts, Bowling, Bullseye and Clown, launch your driver through the windshield towards a target. Six destruction arenas and dirt tracks follow, namely Demolition Dash, Super Mud Mayhem, Demolition Sandpit, Circle of Eight, Super Roundabout and Crashalley Run, where survival matters as much as speed and the last car moving wins.

Bonus minigames such as Figure of 8 and Demolition Bowl add even more chaos, and LAN versus races let several players compete on the same network. The motto is simple: if you are not first, you are last. Achievements, cloud saves and full controller support are included, and the game runs on very modest hardware, with a gamepad or steering wheel recommended. FlatOut is rated USK 16.
