About Griftlands
Griftlands is a deck-building roguelike from Klei Entertainment, the studio known for Don’t Starve and Oxygen Not Included, released in 2021. You fight and talk your way through a broken-down science fiction world where every decision counts, whether it is the jobs you accept, the friends you make or the cards you collect. Death comes quickly, yet each attempt brings new situations, rivals and strategies to explore.
Its signature idea is two decks at once. Every character builds a combat deck for physical battles and a separate negotiation deck for verbal duels, where arguments and counterarguments circle the speakers like units on a board. You can overpower obstacles with your fists or outwit them with words, and balancing the trade-offs between both decks is key. Powerful item cards drop from defeated foes or arrive as rewards, and hundreds of cards in total keep each run fresh.
Three character campaigns each have their own decks, abilities and maps. Sal is an adventurer out for profit and revenge, Rook is an ageing spy working his own agenda, and Smith is an idle loafer who might just save the world. Each story unfolds in its own corner of Havaria, a harsh place full of harsher denizens, with factions and locations to explore and exploit. Hire mercenaries, find pets or lean on friends, but remember that everyone remembers what you do: killing an enemy may anger their allies, while sparing them leaves a dangerous piece on the board.
