About Islets
Islets is a hand-painted metroidvania developed by Kyle Thompson, published by Armor Games Studios and released on 24 August 2022. You play as Iko, an aspiring yet hopeful warrior who explores the land and sky to reunite a series of floating islands, travelling between them with his rickety airship and reigniting the magnetic core of each one.
Each island you reconnect fits into the world like a piece of a puzzle, so reuniting them expands the map and reveals new parts of every area. Earlier regions open up again with fresh routes, and the many upgrades hidden around the world reward you for scouring every nook and cranny and taking on its numerous hidden challenges.
Along the way you fight terrifying monsters and ruthless sky pirates in epic boss battles, while a wholesome cast of charming characters fills the islands with warmth, from a pretentious warrior classmate to a suspiciously cheerful frog. A tour guide also offers to show you around, though the guy gives off some really weird vibes.
It is a single-player action adventure for Windows with full controller support. It runs on Windows 7 and supports English, French, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian and Simplified Chinese. The minimum configuration requires an Intel Pentium E2180 or AMD Athlon Dual Core 4450e processor, 4 GB of RAM, a GeForce GT 220 or Radeon HD 4650 graphics card with 1 GB of memory, DirectX 9.0 and 1 GB of available storage. The game is rated USK 6 and is a great pick for players who enjoy exploring connected maps, discovering secrets and tackling boss battles in a colourful hand-painted world.
