Krush Kill 'N Destroy 2: Krossfire is a fast and furious real-time strategy game developed by Beam Software and published on GOG by Ziggurat Interactive. It is set on an Earth that has become little more than a burnt-out hell hole after a nuclear disaster. Three groups still want what is left of the planet badly enough to start a whole new Armageddon: the high-tech human Survivors, the mutated Evolved and the Series 9 robots, farm machines that turned into killers. Your job is to stake your claim and wipe out everyone who stands in the way.
Each faction plays in its own way. The Survivors send in anaconda tanks and enforcers backed by advanced weapons. The Evolved answer with low-tech power, riding mutant mastodons and fielding giant scorpions. The Series 9 machines bring seeders, weed killers and other strange farming robots to the front. Every side has hordes of air, land and amphibious units, each with its own strengths and weaknesses, so learning which unit beats which is a big part of the fun. Switching factions changes the whole feel of a battle.
The economy is built around oil. You send mobile oil platforms to find and capture oil fields, then use the money to put up buildings such as the Machine Shop, the Barracks and the Research Lab. These let you train new troops and research better versions of them. Ancient technology bunkers are scattered across the maps, and reaching them first can bring powerful treasures that turn the tide of a fight. The computer opponent understands technology, attacks and defends for maximum damage and pulls back when things go badly, all without cheating.
The campaign offers 51 open-ended missions, and a complete mission editor lets you design new battles once the story is over. The pace is quick: you have to be fast or be dead, as the game itself puts it. The GOG version is in English and runs on Windows XP up to Windows 10 with very modest hardware.
