About METAL SLUG XX
METAL SLUG XX is a classic 2D run-and-gun action shooting game from SNK. It was first released on PlayStation Portable in 2009 and on PlayStation 4 in 2018, and SNK CORPORATION brought it to PC in January 2019 with graphics upscaled to 1080p and support for 4K screen resolution. The series is famous for its hand-drawn pixel art, explosive set pieces and a sense of humour that never takes the battlefield too seriously, and this entry keeps all of that intact. You charge from left to right with a pistol in hand, pick up heavier weapons along the way, rescue prisoners and blast through waves of soldiers, tanks and enormous bosses.
Seven missions of breathtaking action are waiting, filled with charismatic characters, Slug vehicles and a variety of other content. Branching paths are hidden throughout the stages, so players who want to clear the game to completion have good reasons to come back and look for the routes they missed. Every stage changes its scenery, from snowy battlefields to waterfalls and jungle ruins, and each one ends with a memorable boss encounter. Jumping into a Slug vehicle turns the tide of a fight, and the rescued prisoners hand out new weapons and bonus points that push your score higher.
The roster is one of the largest in the series. Alongside the traditional heroes Marco Rossi, Tarma Roving, Eri Kasamoto and Fio Germi, Ralf Jones and Clark Still from the Ikari Team of THE KING OF FIGHTERS have been recruited for the mission. Leona Heidern, also from the Ikari Team, was a paid extra character in the original PSP version, and on PC she is playable for free right from the start. Her powerful Moon Slasher special ability can stop enemy attacks, which makes her a strong choice for tough stages. Seven soldiers in total are ready for battle, each with their own feel.
Beyond the main missions, the fan favourite Combat School returns with new military classes. More than seventy mini games prepared by an instructor test your skills, and clearing them all lets you reach the legendary and devilish Super Devil military rank. Promotions also award a mobile satellite that assists you during your missions. The game features thirty four achievements, full controller support and local play on a shared screen, which promises endless hours of intense action and fun. The game runs on 64-bit Windows 7, 8.1 or 10 and supports English (full audio), French, Italian, German and Spanish.
