About Memoria

Memoria is a fantasy point-and-click adventure developed and published by Daedalic Entertainment in 2013. It is set in Aventuria, the world of the German role-playing game The Dark Eye, and follows on from Chains of Satinav, the studio's earlier adventure in the same setting. Daedalic combines hand-drawn 2D backgrounds with 3D characters, and the game tells its story across eight chapters that alternate between two heroes separated by centuries, whose fates turn out to be closely linked.

In the present, the bird catcher Geron is trying to lift a curse that turned his companion Nuri into a crow. With the help of Fahi, a travelling merchant, he takes on the task of solving an old riddle, which leads him into the forgotten story of Sadja. Around 450 years earlier, Sadja, a princess from the south, set out to become a hero during the War of the Mages. As the two timelines unfold, the game spans more than five hundred years of history.

The puzzles mix classic inventory use with magic skills that both characters learn along the way, and many problems can only be solved by choosing the right spell at the right moment. Sadja carries a talking staff whose own past is part of the mystery, and her journey leads to places such as Draconia, a temple built by dragons. Conversations, puzzles and exploration are woven together so that each chapter moves both stories forward.

Memoria is a single-player adventure for Windows and macOS, and the GOG version supports English and Russian. It is a fitting choice for players who enjoyed Chains of Satinav or other Daedalic adventures, and for anyone who likes story-driven point-and-click games with a carefully drawn fantasy world. With its two linked heroes, magic-based puzzles and a narrative that reaches across centuries, Memoria offers a thoughtful, atmospheric adventure from one of the best-known studios of the genre.
