Overcooked! 2 is a chaotic cooking party game developed by Ghost Town Games and published by Team17 in 2018. It is the sequel to the hit Overcooked and brings a brand-new helping of frantic kitchen action. After saving the world from the Ever Peckish, the chefs of the Onion Kingdom face a fresh threat: the Onion King accidentally raises an army of hungry undead bread known as the Unbread. Only teamwork in the kitchen can stave off their appetite. Assemble your team of chefs and get cooking, because it is time to save the world again.
The core idea is simple and wonderfully stressful. Orders appear on screen and your team has to chop ingredients, cook them, assemble dishes, serve them and wash the plates before time runs out. The twist is that every kitchen tries to sabotage you. Counters slide apart, platforms move, teleporters shuffle your chefs around, and some kitchens whisk the whole team away to new locations mid-service. A new throwing mechanic lets you toss ingredients across gaps and counters, which saves precious seconds and opens up clever strategies. Clear communication is the secret ingredient to earning all three stars.
Your journey takes you across a fresh overworld map by land, sea and air, with themes ranging from sushi restaurants and magic schools to mines and even alien planets. Along the way you cook a wide range of new recipes, including sushi, cakes, burgers and pizzas, each with its own steps to master. Hidden kitchens and bonus levels reward exploration, and a large cast of quirky chefs, from raccoons to astronauts, lets every player pick a favorite. The cheerful cartoon style and slapstick humor keep things light, even when the kitchen is literally on fire.
Overcooked! 2 is at its best with friends and family. Up to four players can cook together in classic couch co-op or online, and a versus mode lets two teams compete for the highest score. Solo players can switch between two chefs, which turns each level into a demanding juggling act. It suits players of all ages and makes a fantastic party game for game nights.
