About Rebel Galaxy

Rebel Galaxy is an open-world space combat and trading adventure developed by Double Damage Games. Steam release date: 20 October 2015.

Instead of a nimble fighter you command a huge star destroyer, and combat plays more like a naval battle than a dogfight: line up broadsides, manage turrets and shields, and outmanoeuvre pirates on a flat battle plane. Between fights you trade goods, mine asteroids, scavenge wrecks, explore anomalies and take on missions for different factions, then buy bigger ships and fit them with new weapons. A bluesy rock soundtrack gives the frontier its own swagger.

Key Features

  • Capital ships – command a star destroyer.
  • Broadside combat – naval-style battles.
  • Trade and mining – earn your credits.
  • Factions – missions and bounties.
  • Ship upgrades – bigger hulls, new guns.

Related Games

The natural follow-up is Rebel Galaxy Outlaw, a prequel from the same studio that swaps the capital ship for a small, fully flyable fighter and adds dogfights, detailed ship customisation and more of that bluesy frontier attitude. If trading routes, bounty contracts and exploration kept you in Rebel Galaxy longer than the battles, Elite Dangerous offers a far larger galaxy with realistic flight and a living economy, though it asks more patience. X4: Foundations is the choice for players who want to grow from one ship into a whole fleet and trading empire. Avorion sits in between, with procedurally generated sectors and block-by-block ship building, so your destroyer can be exactly as big and ugly as you like.
