About Rusty's Retirement
Rusty's Retirement is an idle farming simulator developed and published by Mister Morris Games, a small independent studio. It was released on 26 April 2024 for Windows and macOS. You look after Rusty, an old robot who has retired to the countryside to grow vegetables. What makes the game special is its format: the farm is designed to sit in a thin strip at the bottom of your screen, so it keeps running while you browse, write, study or watch videos in other windows.
The loop is relaxing and easy to follow. Plant seeds and Rusty gets to work watering, nurturing and harvesting them. As you progress you unlock new crops, from crispy carrots to ripe tomatoes and beyond. Harvests are turned into biofuel, a clean energy source that powers the robots of this world, and you sell it to other machine residents. The money goes back into the farm, letting you buy new plots, decorations and upgrades.
Little by little you build a team of cute helper robots that take care of planting, watering and harvesting automatically. Each bot can be customised and upgraded to work faster or focus on specific tasks. You can zoom in or out for a less distracting view, switch on Focus Mode to slow production when you need to concentrate, or start a vertical farm that sits along the side of the screen. The game saves at any time and needs no timed input, so you can check in whenever you like.
Streamers can enable Twitch integration, where viewers build a farm together and control their own robot with chat commands such as !plant, !water and !harvest. Pixel art, cheerful sound effects and an optional calm soundtrack make it pleasant company during a long day. Text size can be adjusted, and cloud saves keep your progress safe. There is no violence of any kind, and the game is rated 0 (Germany 0).
