About Sol Cesto
Sol Cesto is a tactical and frantic roguelite created by Tambouille, Géraud Zucchini and Chariospirale and published by Goblinz Publishing with Maple Whispering. After a year in early access it reached its full release in April 2026. Your goal is to descend through the levels of a randomly generated underground world, diving ever deeper in search of the sun, lost for countless years. In this dark world every action has consequences.
The core idea is simple and clever. On the combat grid you choose one of four rows to move into, and you then land on one of the four tiles in that row at random. Will it be a monster that harms you, a chest full of gold or a deadly poison trap? You must weigh the risks of each row as you clear the screen, so every step becomes a small tactical puzzle about probabilities and preparation.
Your hero grows stronger as you go. Stone teeth change the rules and odds to tip the scales in your favour, while metal teeth trigger devastating curses and combos. A wide range of magical items helps you eliminate enemies or escape dangerous situations, and strange underground inhabitants may share their secrets with you. Several heroes with distinct powers, stats and abilities offer very different ways to approach each run.
Each biome hides monsters and traps with unique behaviours, so knowledge from earlier runs pays off. The striking hand-drawn art, inspired by old engravings and tarot imagery, gives the descent a unique and slightly sinister charm. Runs are quick, which makes it easy to try one more attempt. It is rated 12 for fantasy violence.

Sol Cesto has very light requirements. It runs on Windows Vista or newer with a 1 GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM, a WebGL-compatible graphics card and DirectX 9.0, and needs only about 300 MB of storage. That makes it ideal for older PCs and laptops. It is single-player, with text in 18 languages including English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Polish.
