About Sundered: Eldritch Edition
Sundered: Eldritch Edition is a hand-drawn metroidvania from Thunder Lotus, the studio behind Jotun. You play Eshe, a wanderer trapped in ever-changing caverns of a ruined world inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft, where hordes of enemies spawn dynamically and gigantic bosses guard the way forward.
Exploration follows the genre's classic pattern: backtracking, secrets and new abilities that open new regions. The map mixes hand-crafted and procedurally generated areas, so routes shift between runs. Combat is fast melee against crowds of eldritch monsters, and the game is designed as a challenging adventure where frequent deaths are expected.
Dying sends you back to the Hub, where you level up and spend what you gathered on Perks, stats and special Abilities. Central to the story are corrupted relics: you can use their power to defeat bosses at the cost of your humanity, or resist them, and the choice leads to one of several endings.
The Eldritch Edition is the current version of the game and includes the Magnate of the Gong update, which adds new areas, a new boss fight and optional local co-op for up to four players. Expect a demanding, death-heavy run of more than 15 hours that rewards persistence and gradual character building.
