About Unity of Command II

Unity of Command II is a turn-based operational strategy game from 2x2 Games, co-developed with Croteam and released in 2019. It is the sequel to the cult classic that has been turning newcomers into seasoned strategists since 2011. Built on a brand new bespoke 3D engine, it keeps the signature art style of the original while delivering polished, fluid play that is easy to pick up yet hard to master.

You take command of the Western Allies during the Second World War, managing your army’s divisions together with their supply and logistics. Supply lines remain the heart of the design: keep a watchful eye on your own logistics while planning deep strikes beyond enemy lines to sever theirs and encircle their units. For the first time in the series you also face fog of war, so you reveal enemy positions by capturing stragglers, launching reconnaissance and upgrading your headquarters to uncover hidden defences.

Headquarters appear on the map as a new feature, directing unit reorganisation, bridging and resupply, and they unlock special abilities such as emergency supply or motorising units with trucks. Theatre assets are greatly expanded too: order aerial reconnaissance, devastating bombing runs or air supply for cut-off units, and sabotage infrastructure behind the front. A dynamic, branching campaign means no two playthroughs are alike, and optional bonus objectives let you attempt bold what-if operations, such as racing for the Apennines before the defenders dig in.

Unity of Command II runs on Windows, macOS and Linux and is available in English, German, Russian and Simplified Chinese. Alongside the full Allied campaign it includes several defining battles that can be played from the Axis side, and a built-in scenario editor lets you create new battlefields and share them through Workshop support. It suits strategy players who enjoy clean, readable maps, meaningful logistics and campaigns that reward careful planning over brute force.
