About Gone Viral
Gone Viral is an over-the-top action game with heavy roguelite elements, developed by Skullbot Games and published by Akupara Games and Surefire.Games, released on 31 August 2021. The setting is a collapsed civilisation that glorifies only violence and follower counts. You have been captured and thrown into a prison arena, where the only way out is to fight for your life while a bloodthirsty audience watches every move and cheers for ever more brutal entertainment.
Combat revolves around combos. Stringing attacks together keeps the crowd excited and earns rewards, while upgrades to your killing skills push the spectacle and efficiency even further. The fights are physics-based, so enemies go flying, bounce off walls and crash into each other, and the camera follows the chaos from an isometric view. Room after room you tear through mutants, armoured brutes and towering bosses, choosing when to dodge, when to blast and when to unleash a devastating finisher.
Each attempt is different thanks to randomly generated levels and a wide pool of mutations and crazy weapons. Picking up a new mutation can change how your character moves or attacks, and weapons range from heavy guns to strange energy blasts, so every run asks you to adapt your style. The aim is to collect what you need to escape and finally go viral, becoming the apocalypse’s greatest social star on the way, while dark humour keeps the bloodshed tongue in cheek.
Gone Viral is a single-player experience with an optional Twitch integration that lets streamers invite their audience into the game as spectators who vote to help or hinder the run. The difficulty can be adjusted, and you can save at any time. The game offers full controller support, achievements and trading cards, requires Windows 10 and runs on mid-range hardware. English is fully voiced, with French, German, Chinese, Korean and Latin American Spanish text. It is rated USK 16.
