Hard West is a dark take on the Wild West, where outlaws and gunslingers share the frontier with demons, cults and strange powers. The campaign is made of eight scenarios that tell linked stories, and between battles you travel across a world map, take on side tasks, trade and make choices that change what comes next. Combat is turn-based and built around cover and positioning. Half and full cover protect your posse, flanking opens enemies up, and bullets can ricochet off objects to reach targets that cannot be seen directly. Shadows also matter, because a character's silhouette can give away their position. Alongside guns, your characters can gain supernatural abilities through cards and dark bargains, which let them bend the usual rules of a fight. Every scenario has its own goals, so the challenge keeps changing.
