About Homeworld: Vast Reaches
Homeworld: Vast Reaches is a virtual reality real-time strategy game set in the Homeworld universe, developed and published by FarBridge, released on 7 November 2025. You take command of fleets in full 3D space with your own hands, grabbing, selecting and directing ships as the battle unfolds all around you. The game brings the scale of the classic space strategy series into a headset, so the motherships, frigates and strike craft feel close enough to touch.
The story follows Tyrra Soban, a young commander serving after the events of Homeworld 2, guided by the familiar voice of Karan S’jet as Fleet Command. A mysterious enemy called the Radaa emerges from the Vast Reaches, and you lead your forces through a campaign of missions to uncover the threat. Between engagements you harvest resources, build ships and research new technologies, then position your fleet in three dimensions to flank, surround and overwhelm the opposition.
Three challenge levels let you set the pace, from a gentle introduction for newcomers to virtual reality strategy up to a tougher test for veterans of the series. Tracked motion controllers are used for every command, and the interface is designed around reaching out into the battlefield.
The game runs on Windows 10 with a VR headset and supports English only, for the interface and audio. The minimum setup requires an Intel Core i5-4590 processor, 4 GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GTX 970 or AMD R9 290 graphics card, 4 GB of free disk space and an OpenXR headset such as Valve Index, Meta Quest 2 or 3 or Oculus Rift. It is rated USK 12 and suits players who enjoy space strategy, epic fleet battles and immersive virtual reality.
