About Look Outside
Look Outside is a survival horror RPG set entirely inside a single apartment building. It was created by Francis Coulombe and published by Devolver Digital, and it was released on 21 March 2025. A mysterious event turns anyone who looks out of the window into a grotesque monster, plunging the world into absolute chaos. You must scavenge the building for food, supplies and weapons while meeting strange characters, some of them human and some very much otherwise.
Survival and resource management sit at the heart of the game. You plan tense expeditions beyond your apartment door, fending off grotesque monsters that dwell in and around the building. Afterwards you return home with what you have gathered, along with partial answers to your questions, and recover by playing games, making dinner, crafting tools and getting to know the neighbours who have become your allies in this nightmare.
Combat is inventive and turn-based. You clash with more than 150 hand-crafted creatures in battles that take the space between you and your foes into account, wielding makeshift weapons and items gathered in the corridors. The impeccable body horror aesthetic fills the halls with a bizarre and unconventional cast, occasionally psychotic, and some of these characters can be recruited and offered safe harbour in your apartment as the mystery unravels.
Small, experimental and unwaveringly weird, the game offers 10 to 12 hours of playtime with a dozen boss encounters, allies to recruit and visitors to invite back to your home. Different choices lead to different experiences on the way to several possible endings. It is a single-player game with English text, and achievements and cloud saves are supported. It contains horror scenes, frequent violence and gore. Look Outside is rated USK 16.
