About Luck be a Landlord

Luck be a Landlord is a roguelike deckbuilder by solo studio TrampolineTales. It left Early Access and launched in full on Steam on 6 January 2023.

Your rent is due and you have one coin left, so you feed it into a slot machine. Instead of cards you collect symbols: after each spin you add one of three random options, such as a bee, coal or a treasure chest, and each symbol pays out or reacts with its neighbours in its own way. Items such as a fruit basket or a lucky cat change the rules further. Rent rises at set intervals, and a run ends when you cannot pay. Because the choices differ every time, each run turns into a new combo puzzle, and Steam Workshop mods add more symbols.

Key Features

  • Build your own slot machine – one symbol at a time.
  • Symbol synergies – neighbours trigger each other.
  • Random items – new build strategies each run.
  • Rising rent – a clear target every few spins.
  • Workshop mods – extra symbols from the community.

Accessibility Features

  • Screen reader mode – highlighted text is copied for a screen reader.
  • Adjustable text size – and colour alternatives.
  • Keyboard-only or mouse-only – play is supported.
  • No timed input – play entirely at your own pace.

Balatro applies the same idea of small random upgrades to poker hands, chasing ever larger scores with jokers that bend the rules. Slay the Spire is the deckbuilder many of these games learned from, with a climb through three acts and a new set of card rewards on every floor. Backpack Hero swaps the slot grid for a backpack, where arranging items in the right spots matters as much as which ones you pick up.
