About Primordia

Primordia is a point-and-click adventure developed by Wormwood Studios and published by Wadjet Eye Games, first released in December 2012. It is set in a post-apocalyptic world strewn with cast-off machines, long after the humans who built them have vanished. The story asks a simple question that grows heavier the further you play: what happened to the humans? You explore the answer through the eyes of a robot who would much prefer to be left alone, and the game unfolds as a thoughtful, atmospheric journey through a broken mechanical world.

You play as Horatio Nullbuilt, a stoic robot who values his solitude and independence. He spends his days studying the Book of Man, sparring verbally with his droid companion Crispin and tinkering with the airship the two of them call home. This peaceful existence is threatened when a rogue robot steals the energy source the pair needs to survive. The banter between the serious Horatio and the talkative Crispin gives the adventure much of its warmth and humour, and Crispin is always ready with a comment on your next move.

The search for energy leads Horatio and Crispin to the dazzling city of Metropol, and the simple quest to recover their stolen power core turns into something much larger. Along the way they make unexpected discoveries about Horatio’s origins and gain a new understanding of the legendary humans who walked the earth before him. The storyline deals with the extinction of the human race, and the gorgeous post-apocalyptic setting is drawn in a detailed pixel style that rewards careful observation of every scene and every scrap of machinery.

Puzzles follow the classic point-and-click formula of exploring, collecting and combining, and a number of them are optional, letting you learn more about the world the more you play. The voice cast is led by fan favourite Logan Cunningham, and English has full audio, with text in French, German, Spanish, Italian, Hungarian and Turkish. Primordia is a single-player game that runs on Windows, macOS and Linux and needs only modest hardware. For fans of story-driven adventures with a melancholic science-fiction tone, it is a memorable trip into a world of machines.
