About The Ouroboros King

The Ouroboros King is a turn-based strategy roguelike by the Spanish developer Oriol Cosp Games. It came out on Steam on 27 February 2023.

The game mixes the rules of chess with the build variety of a roguelike. You move one piece per turn on a chessboard against enemy armies of the Covenant, then travel across a kingdom map to recruit new units, buy items and find relics that give your pieces bonuses. Besides the classic pieces there are new ones such as the Portal Mage, who can jump to any free square, or the Princess, who turns into a Queen after her first kill. When you lose, you start again on a new timeline with a different map, enemies and rewards. A run takes about 15 to 45 minutes and all content is unlocked from the start.

Key Features

  • Chess meets roguelike – Familiar rules with surprising new pieces
  • Build your army – Combine units, relics and consumable items
  • New timeline every run – Different maps, enemies and rewards
  • Short sessions – Runs of about 15–45 minutes
  • Endgame difficulty – Plenty of options to raise the challenge

PC Version and Compatibility

The key activates the Windows, macOS and Linux versions on Steam. Minimum requirements are very low: Windows 7 SP1 or newer and a CPU with SSE2 support. The game is available in English, German, French, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Catalan and Chinese; there is no Italian language option. Local split-screen PvP, Remote Play Together and full controller support are included.

Global Activation & What You Receive

You receive a digital Steam key for the standard game. It is a Global key with no regional restriction, so it works on a Steam account in any country. In the Steam client choose Games → Activate a Product on Steam, enter the code and the game is added to your library permanently.

Why Buy This Game?

The Ouroboros King is easy to pick up if you know how chess pieces move, yet every relic and new unit changes the puzzle. Short runs make it perfect for a quick break, and the game runs on almost any PC. A great pick for strategy fans who want fresh ideas on the board.
