About Battleplan
Battleplan is a real-time strategy game from Foolish Mortals Games, published by Slitherine in October 2026, that puts you in command of entire divisions in some of the largest battles of World War II. It simulates massive month-long operations with hundreds of thousands of troops second by second and day by day. You give the high-level orders, then watch your officers and companies carry them out on their own. The result is a wargame that feels like sitting at a general's map table, where good planning decides the outcome long before the first shot is fired.
Planning is done by drawing directly on the map. You can create elaborate, multi-step and multi-unit plans in an intuitive way, then employ varied tactics such as defence in depth, counterattacks and planned withdrawals. Preparatory bombardments soften the enemy before large set-piece attacks, and a division can be split to capture several objectives at once. Each division is modelled realistically with headquarters, regiments, battalions and companies, so infantry, tanks, engineers, anti-tank guns, artillery and scouts work together and perform their tasks autonomously. You can customise the entire chain of command, combine divisions into corps or split units down to single companies.
The battlefields stretch across thousands of kilometres built from real-world geographic data, with every road, town, forest and swamp exactly where it is in real life. Elevation maps help you place artillery on the high ground. Each mission is simulated second by second, and you can pause, play in real time or fast-forward whenever you like, with mission lengths ranging from one week to a full month. Logistics matter just as much as firepower: cut enemy supply lines to starve them, capture depots to fuel your advance and pull back when your units run low, because terrain dictates how supplies flow.
The campaign covers more than ten massive historical battles on the Western Front from 1944 onward. Between missions you requisition and upgrade units, add new attachments, hire and fire officers and let wounded divisions rest and recover. Officers who survive gain veterancy along with quirks, and their advice can be followed or ignored. Recon, fighter-bomber and heavy bomber support becomes available as you progress, and geo-tagged historical photos and videos let you learn real history at the very spots where it happened. The game runs on 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 and supports English and Russian with full audio, plus French, German, Spanish and Polish interface and subtitles.
