About Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive
Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive is a western real-time tactics game from Spellbound, first released in 2001 and now published by THQ Nordic. It combines the movie-like, story-driven atmosphere of an adventure game with the intellectual challenge of real-time tactics. You are in charge of a team of six characters and must find a way to complete each mission, whether that means infiltrating an enemy fortress, saving a team member or escaping an ambush.
The story begins in El Paso, a typical frontier town in the southwestern United States near the Mexican border, in 1881. For months the trains of the famous railroad company Twinnings & Co have been the target of hold-ups and ambushes, and the company offers a reward of $15,000 for the capture of the gang leader. Nobody in town has the courage to take on the bandidos, until a bounty hunter rides in, gathers his old partners and declares war on the outlaws. During a pursuit across half of the American Southwest, he soon discovers that nothing on this mission is quite what it seems.
Success comes from combining the different skills of your six heroes. More than 20 enemy types await, from the lazy and cowardly bandit to the fearsome mercenary, and each enemy is ranked on 10 criteria, including intelligence, courage, marksmanship and resistance to alcohol. Across 25 levels with cinematic transition scenes, you face day-time and night-time missions, storms and dusk in villages, ghost towns, fortresses, gold mines, saloons, prisons and boats. Six training levels help you get into the story before the real work begins.
Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive runs on Windows and Linux and is available in 6 languages: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Russian. It is a great choice for fans of tactical stealth, players who enjoy careful planning with a squad of specialists and anyone who loves classic western stories. Saddle up, study the guards and plan the perfect ambush.
