King Arthur: Knight's Tale is a turn-based tactical RPG from NeocoreGames, released in 2022. It retells the Arthurian legend through dark fantasy, and casts you as Sir Mordred, the nemesis of the king. You killed Arthur, but with his dying breath he struck you down. Now the Lady of the Lake has brought you back to Avalon with one task: finish what you began and kill Arthur, or whatever he has become.
The game blends tactical battles with a character-driven RPG. Arthur, resurrected in Avalon, has turned into an undying mad king whose pain is twisting the island into a nightmare version of Britannia, where vile monsters and magical creatures lurk in castles and forests. You gather knights from six classes, Defender, Champion, Marksman, Vanguard, Arcanist and Sage, then level them up, spend skill points and equip loot from missions. Heroes can die, and injuries, curses and diseases take time to treat, so Camelot needs the right facilities for recovery.
Your knights are far more than numbers. Each has a distinct personality, goals, rivalries, traits and bonds, and they watch your decisions closely. Settle disputes, grant favours and send heroes on missions they are comfortable with, because loyalty depends on many factors and an unhappy knight may leave or turn against you. As king, you also have a personality shaped by your moral choices, tracked on a Morality Chart between Christianity and the Old Faith, and between Tyranny and Righteousness, which influences both the gameplay and the story.
King Arthur: Knight's Tale runs on Windows and is available in English, French, German, Spanish, Hungarian, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese and Italian, with full English voice acting. Four difficulty modes range from relaxed storytelling to gruelling battles, and Roguelite Mode removes reloads entirely so every choice and every move in combat sticks. After the campaign, an endgame opens with mythic boss fights, random quests and more loot, leading to a showdown with Balor, the monstrous god-king of the Fomorians. It is an excellent pick for strategy players who enjoy tough squad tactics wrapped in a grim legend.
