About Sword & Siege Age of Longbow: Volume I
Sword & Siege Age of Longbow: Volume I is a detailed tactical wargame about the Hundred Years War, developed and published by Wargame Design Studio and released on 22 May 2026. The story opens with the dynastic crisis that followed the death of Charles IV in 1328 and traces how the rivalry between England and France grew into full-scale war. Across more than a century of conflict you follow the campaigns of Edward III and the Black Prince, shifting alliances with Castile and Brittany, and the rise, collapse and resurgence of power on both sides.
Famous engagements such as Crécy, Poitiers and Agincourt are here, along with the Caroline phase, Joan of Arc and the siege of Orléans. Detailed hex-based maps put you in control of medieval armies fighting across fields, fortresses and contested frontiers, where longbow volleys, infantry formations, cavalry charges and the constant challenge of supply and command shape every battle. You can lead England with Welsh longbowmen, Gascon crossbowmen and Flemish allies, or France with feudal levies, heavy cavalry, Genoese crossbowmen and early siege guns.
The package holds 94 scenarios, from a solo tutorial to historical battles and what-if variants, plus 49 further campaign scenarios that link operations and decisions together. Core systems model the limits of command and control, fatigue and morale, supply and logistics, and terrain positioning, and you can switch between 15-minute turns on 100-metre hexes and 10-minute turns on 40-metre hexes. Detailed 2D and 3D battlefield views, design notes with a bibliography and powerful editing tools round out the simulation.
The game runs on Windows. It runs on Windows 10 (64-bit) and supports English for the interface and all text. The minimum setup needs a 64-bit processor at 2 GHz, 4 GB of RAM, a graphics card with 512 MB of VRAM and 2 GB of available storage. The game holds a USK 12 rating and is ideal for players who enjoy historical wargames, careful hex-based tactics and medieval military history.
