About Tin Can
Tin Can is a space survival simulation developed and published by Tin Can Studio, released on 12 May 2022. You are stranded inside a small escape pod drifting through space, and surviving aboard it is no trivial matter. Without a good look at the systems around you, plenty of patience and a careful reading of the onboard manual, the only thing waiting for you is a cold or hot cosmic death.
Every system inside the pod is made up of many different components, from fuses to air filters, and they are all interconnected with their own critical function. When the oxygen generator refuses to start, the cause might be a blown fuse cutting power or something far worse near the atomic pile. Failures emerge organically from the simulated resources and parts, so you have to figure out what went wrong and trace each problem back to its source before you can dismantle, swap and fix it.
Your own body is the most honest gauge on board. There are no health bars, because real medical symptoms tell you what is happening: hypoxia makes you breathe faster, blurs your vision and slows your movements, while in the dark only the sound of your heartbeat and shallow breathing warns you of danger. Oxygen, carbon dioxide, atmospheric pressure and temperature are simulated at realistic levels for maximum immersion.
The manual inside the pod is packed with detailed information about every system, error code and symptom, and it could very well save your life. Planning ahead matters too, because asteroid fields, nebulae and other cosmic monsters wreak havoc on your systems and leave little time to breathe. It is a single-player game for Windows with VR headset support and achievements. Tin Can is rated USK 16.
Key Features
- Component-level systems – Manage every pod system down to each fuse, filter, button and connector.
- Interconnected failures – Systems depend on each other, so one fault can ripple from oxygen to lights.
- Realistic life support – Oxygen, carbon dioxide, pressure and temperature follow real survival levels.
- Body as a gauge – Blurred vision, fast breathing and a racing heartbeat replace health bars.
- Onboard manual – Decode error codes and symptoms with a detailed manual inside the pod.
- Hands-on repairs – Dismantle, swap and fix any component to keep the pod alive.
- Cosmic hazards – Asteroid fields and nebulae strain your systems and leave little time.
