Cossacks 3 is a real-time strategy game developed and published by GSC Game World and released in September 2016. It returns to the territory of Europe in the 17th and 18th centuries and recreates the scale and style of the classic Cossacks series with modern technology. Five campaigns are based on real historical events: you liberate Turin from a French garrison, overcome the Ottomans at the Battle of Khotyn, defeat English rebels at Edgehill, defend Mogilev against Polish troops and prove your superiority at La Manche.
The defining feature is sheer scale. You command colossal forces in mass battles with up to 32,000 units on the battlefield at the same time. Twenty unique nations are available, with 120 unit types, 100 research opportunities and more than 220 different historic buildings at your disposal. War is not limited to land either, because you can build a mighty armada and dominate your enemies at sea. Landscape has a significant influence on tactics, so hills, forests and rivers shape how every fight unfolds.
Behind every army stands a working economy in the tradition of the golden age of the genre. You send peasants down the mines, chop forests for wood and manage your crops, keeping an eye on the prosperity of your town and your victories in the field at once. Construction, resource production, a broad selection of units and the terrain all open countless tactical options. A flexible map generator creates fresh battlefields for skirmishes against AI opponents once the campaigns are complete.
