About Master of Orion 3
Master of Orion 3 is a single-player turn-based 4X space strategy game developed by Quicksilver Software and first released in February 2003. It continues one of the most celebrated series in strategy gaming and asks you to lead one of 16 different races on its path to galactic supremacy. From your home system you face a universe of decisions, setting the direction of an entire civilisation as it reaches out to the stars. Behind it all lies a deeper question about the truth of the Orion Sector and its inhabitants.
Every turn you put the core elements of empire building into motion. You set policies that shape your society, explore unknown star systems, build up colonies and fleets, declare war on rivals and negotiate with neighbours when that serves you better. Each of the 16 races brings its own character, so the same galaxy can feel very different depending on who you choose to lead. Managing a sprawling empire means balancing growth, defence and diplomacy while keeping an eye on every threat that appears at your borders.
Not every victory is won by fleets alone. Espionage, disinformation, subterfuge, betrayal, subversion and assassination are all tools at your disposal, and you are free to do whatever it takes to come out on top. Rival empires will use the same tricks against you, so alliances are never fully safe. Dynamic galaxy generation ensures that no two games are ever the same, with new layouts, neighbours and opportunities each time you start, giving the campaign a long life for anyone who enjoys deep, careful planning.
Master of Orion 3 runs on Windows and has very modest requirements: Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 or 10, a 1.8 GHz processor, 512 MB of RAM, a DirectX 7 compatible 3D card and 2 GB of storage. The game is available in English and Russian. If you enjoy grand strategy among the stars, with layers of politics, intrigue and conflict to master, this classic chapter of the series offers a demanding and absorbing challenge that rewards patience and long-term thinking.
